"Because what most Americans have forgotten, or never knew, is that we already fight our wars at least partly in space. All our battlefields involve, one way or another, satellites, which are put into space by rockets and which are vital for exercising command and control as well as acquisition of intelligence about enemy movements and capabilities," Card said. "If we were deprived of those satellites, we would be back to sixties-level tactical capabilities."

In addition to Card, the all-day event featured several other experts in the field, including Concordia鈥檚 Lamont Colucci, who is the inaugural Director of Doctrine Development for the United States Space Force.

Another was Chief Economist of MilkyWayEconomy George Pullen, who also discussed the importance the space sector has on people鈥檚 lives.

鈥淲e have to realize that space interacts with everything else,鈥 he said. 鈥... We鈥檝e come so far, so fast that unless we stop we don鈥檛 realize that we鈥檙e living in the future now.鈥
