GRAFTON — The Grafton man who was taken into protective custody after threatening to harm himself and a family member has been charged.

Benjamin Krueger, 36, was charged Tuesday with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, use of a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse.

At about 11:50 a.m. Monday, the Grafton Police Department received a call from Krueger’s brother, who said that Krueger had a gun and threatened to kill him and himself, according to a criminal complaint.

The brother, who resides with Krueger, said that he asked Krueger to pick up after himself and Krueger became upset, grabbed a gun and stated "I’m gonna blow you away." The brother said that he feared for his safety and locked himself in his bedroom, according to the complaint.

The brother was then eventually able to leave the apartment and when he did, he observed Krueger sitting on the sofa in the living room with a gun lying on his lap, according to the complaint.

Officers responded to the residence located in the 500 block of Spring Street and attempted to contact Krueger, but he did not respond. Grafton Police secured the area, evacuating nearby homes and notifying local schools for precautionary measures, according to a department press release. Personnel from the Ozaukee County Special Response Team were also requested to the scene.

Krueger was then taken into protective custody without incident and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
