OCONOMOWOC — A fast start lifted Oconomowoc’s softball team to an 8-2 Classic 8 Conference win over Waukesha West on Monday.

The Raccoons led 5-0 after two innings of play, as Charlotte Hayes blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first and finished with a pair of hits. Carli Moldenhauer later homered, Maddie Hamersmeier scored twice and Ava Mitchell drove in a run for Ocon, which scored in every inning but one.

Kelsey Yambor got the start and threw six innings to earn the win, while Hayes closed it out in the seventh.

Raccoons rally past Elkhorn, fall to Lake Mills at triangular

OCONOMOWOC — Oconomowoc’s softball team went 1-1 at its host triangular on Saturday, rallying for a 76 victory in eight innings against Elkhorn before falling 10-5 to Lake Mills.

Carli Moldenhauer was the hero against the Elks, hitting an RBI single in the eighth for a walk-off win. She had two hits on the game, as did Macy Brazelton, who drove in two. Kelsey Yambor homered and went 2for-4 with two runs scored to help the Raccoons recover from an early 4-0 deficit to take a 6-5 lead in the fifth.

Yambor pitched all eight innings to pick up the victory, striking out 11.

A late flurry of offense from the LCats did in the Raccoons in Game 2. Ocon trailed 2-1 after four innings before Lake Mills poured it on late.

Moldenhauer went 2-for-4 with a home run, while Yambor also had two hits and a run scored.

Brazelton drove in a pair of runs, Kam Stoltz scored twice and Charlotte Hayes went all seven innings in the circle, finishing with four punchouts.
