Dennis Herman Loppnow, 78, of Ixonia, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, peacefully in his sleep at AngelsGrace.

Dennis was born on January 2, 1946, to Roy and Agnes (Thurow) Loppnow of Ixonia. They preceded him in death, along with his brother Robert Loppnow, sister-in-law Lois Loppnow, sister Virginia Dorenfeldt, brother-in-law Leroy Borchardt, sister-in-law Rosemary Loppnow, mother-in-law Dorothea Holland, father-in-law Robert Holland, and son-in-law Mike Dragan.

Dennis retired in 2004 after working at MSI General for 40 years. In retirement, he enjoyed tending to his farm, woodworking, playing cards, making beef jerky, and connecting with family and friends. He was always there to help, especially if it was a construction project. His favorite pastime was sitting in his kitchen chair, watching the birds with the love of his life, Barbie.

Dennis and Barbara started dating in 1962 while attending Oconomowoc High School. They later married on July 6, 1965.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 58 years; their three children, Dennis (Cindy) Loppnow, Pamela (Mike) Dragan, and Roy (Michele) Loppnow; 10 grandchildren, Emily (Josh) Ratliff, Lindsey (Ross) Taber, Meg (Aaron) Davis, Bella Grace (Dane) Appleyard, Thea Hope Loppnow, Nicole (Brett) Staude, Mikey Dragan, Erin (Malik Staude) Dragan, Evie Loppnow and Blake Loppnow; and seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Abigail, Henry, Madeline, Ari, Holden and Waylon. He is also survived by his siblings Alice Borchardt, Don Loppnow, Eunice (Stan) Indermuehle and Lora (Merlin) Krause; sister-in-law Mary McNamee; brother-in-law Dutch (Lynda) Holland; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, March 24, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (new location, 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066), from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ixonia food pantry, the ROC in Watertown, and Ixonia Fire & Rescue.
