CEDARBURG — The 4-H 2023 Pinewood Derby, held Saturday, April 14 at the Ozaukee County Fairgrounds, was a fun day of racing for the youngsters as well as the adults. About 51 racers took part in the event.

Cars were judged for speed and craftsmanship. There was also a trophy for the slowest car.

Racers ranged in age from early elementary to one adult, who could have legitimately taken home the first-through fourth-place trophies (he told organizers to save them for next year). Each racer received a blue participation ribbon and enjoyed candy left over from this year’s Project Bunny.

Also at the fairgrounds, Ozaukee 4-H members will take part in the fifth annual Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office Cops and Kids Event, being from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5.

Activities will include bounces houses, tug-of-war, fingerprinting, a photo green screen, craft table, face painting, a vehicle display, K-9 demos, piñatas, obstacle courses, a 4-H archery range, train rides and more. 4-H members will be selling food during the event.
