Keith S. Barringer, 74

Keith S. Barringer, 74

Keith S. Barringer, 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, April 21, 2024, surrounded by his children at Aurora Medical Center - Grafton.

Keith was born March 28, 1950, in Revere, MA. Raised by a Methodist minister, he lived in several places - Grand Rapids & Traverse City, MI, Menomonee, WI, Sioux City & West De Moines, IA. One of his favorite stories was regarding his parents accidentally celebrating his birthday a day late due to confusion during one of their many moves, only to discover the error when reading his baby book a few years later.

He graduated from Valley High School in 1968. Initially, he started his college career at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA and ultimately completed his degree in teaching at UW-Milwaukee in 1979.

After all his moves in his youth, he finally settled down in Ozaukee County, the area of which he called home the remainder of his life. He spent time volunteering and fundraising for several organizations - Boy Scouts, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and with a wide variety of church functions. He had a love for golf - both play and watching the Masters on TV.

His faith was of great importance to him. He loved discussing the Bible and enjoyed journaling and writing poetry inspired by his faith.

Throughout his journeys in life, he loved making friends - often chatting with new people he met in any situation. He was known to have his “show-and-tell bag†in tow, which would contain trinkets to bring a smile to someone’s face or some sort of conversation starter. He loved making people smile by telling the latest dad joke he had heard and could win a contest for longest “Midwest Good-byeâ€, always having “just one more thing†to say.

Keith is survived by his daughter, Heather (Mike) Rahlf, and son, Tim (Danielle) Barringer and grandsons whom he adored - Bennett & Gavin Rahlf and Jaxon & Maddox Barringer. He is further survived by his sisters – Lauren (Jay) Tappan, Wendy (Jeff) Bucklew, brother, Barth Anderson and step-siblings - Jim, Mark, Kevin and Karen Anderson, Trent Barringer, Dale and Dwayne Rausch, and his stepmother, Joan Barringer, and many nieces and nephews - all of which he loved deeply.

He was preceded in death by many beloved family members: his father- Kenneth D. Barringer, mother - Bonnie J. Anderson, stepfather - Jack Anderson, brother - Robin Barringer and niece - Andrea Barringer. All of these losses affected him greatly and we are comforted to know he has now been reunited with them.

A visitation will be held at Christ Church - 13460 N Port Washington Rd., Mequon, WI 53097 on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 3-5pm with service and dinner to follow. Interment will occur Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10 am in the Washington County Memorial Cemetery - 3358 Paradise Dr., West Bend, WI 53095. Funeral arrangements are graciously made by Mueller Funeral Home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the amazing care he has received over the years. The end of his life was met with the most compassionate care from the excellent health care providers at AMCG, especially the nurses - Brittany, Robin, Molly, Lydia and Charity, along with Dr. Wnek, Dr. Marquez, Dr. Al-Saghir and Dr. Mohammed and the Case Management/Social Work department. We would also like to thank Dr. Vravick & Janice, Samantha, NP & nurse Mari through Oz County and the kind pharmacy staff who he loved to chat with at AMCG, including Tyler and Jason.

Memorials will be given to Christ Church and Ozaukee County Meals on Wheels - .
