PORT WASHINGTON — Captain Tabitha Eden of Cedarburg recently celebrated her retirement from the United States Navy.

Eden is a native of Mundelein, Ill. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Saint Mary’s College in 1998, a Master of Science in administration from Central Michigan University in 2005 and a Master of Science in nursing from Excelsior College in 2018. She is nationally certified in Emergency Nursing and Nursing Education.

Eden entered the Navy in 1998 via the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Notre Dame. She began her career at Naval Hospital Jacksonville where she worked in the surgical ward, family practice clinic, and emergency departments Her career included serving as a member of the NASA Space Shuttle Support Team, a deployment to Kuwait, serving as director of Nursing Services at the Expeditionary Medical Facility Djibouti and serving as the command training officer for Expeditionary Medical Facility Great Lakes in Illinois. There, Eden voluntarily mobilized to New York City for COVID19 response where she used her education expertise to help nurses from different specialties flex to meet the unique needs of the mission.

Eden graduated with distinction from the Naval War College. There she completed the Joint Professional Military Education Phase One in March 2022.

As a civilian, Eden is an associate director for the VA Office of Inspector General, leading teams as they conduct health care inspections at VA Medical Centers across the country and make recommendations for improving the quality of veteran health care.
