Failure analysis

Evaluation of the causes of failure due to creep, fatigue, corrosion, overheating ecc., by means of:

  • Analysis of the nature of the compounds present on the fracture surfaces and estimation of the service temperatures
  • Analysis of the grain size and its microstructural evolution
  • Measure of the decarburized area and of the thickness of coatings, where present
  • Micro hardness profiles
  • Determination of the mechanical properties (tensile, impact, FATT, ecc.)
  • Structural verification with the Finite Elements Method (FEM)
