KEWASKUM 鈥 The village announced Wednesday that staging equipment for water and sewer work for the Fond du Lac Avenue/U.S. Highway 45 resurfacing project, from County Highway H to State Highway 28, will begin on March 11. The project is now expected to start on March 13 or 14.
According to a Facebook post from Kewaskum, construction crews will begin warming up equipment at 6:30 a.m. throughout the project and begin working at 7 a.m. The crews will be done by 6 p.m. each day, usually.
Highway 45 will be closed to through traffic during construction hours, but business and residential traffic along Fond du Lac Avenue/ Highway 45 will remain open.
"Navigating through traffic during this difficult time will require a commonsense approach, please continue to stay informed by following the village on Facebook and sign up for project updates on the village of Kewaskum Website," said the post.
The Kewaskum website, , includes a detour map for the area, a progress schedule and assessment report.
A Facebook post from the Kewaskum Police Department shared suggestions for avoiding construction traffic while traveling within the village, including to stay positive and enjoy the outdoors.
"Instead of driving, ride your bike or walk downtown and get dinner. Sure, we鈥檒l have to drive sometimes, but the less cars trying to get around, the better!"
The water and sewer work is expected to be completed before the Department of Transportation resurfacing project begins on its projected start date of July.
